Issues of Morality

This year, the election in Canada has successfully stayed away from moral debate issues. Let's take a look at where each party stands today and where they have stood in the past. This will give us an idea of where they are heading.

NDP Prostitution: Supports decriminalization of prostitution to allow brothels.
Law and Order: Opposes strengthening the Young Offenders Act
Child Pornography: Supports defense of artistic merit for possession
Euthanasia: Supports the personal right to die with dignity -lift the ban.

Conservative Prostitution: Supports established prostitution laws. Support of a model much like the "Nordic Model" to criminalize the demand for prostitution but decriminalize the prostituted.
Law and Order: Supports strengthening the Young Offenders Act
Child Pornography: Supports elimination of artistic merit defense
Euthanasia: Does not support euthanasia under any conditions - maintain the ban.

Liberal Prostitution: Supports decriminalization of prostitution to allow brothels.
Law and Order: Believes Young Offenders should be treated with leniency.
Child Pornography: Supports artistic merit defense for possession where 'legitimate purpose' can be proven.
Euthanasia: Undecided.

Green Prostitution: The Greens in Germany and Switzerland allow legal brothels
Law and Order: No uniform party stand.
Child Pornography: No uniform party stand.
Euthanasia: Supports the personal right to die with dignity -lift the ban.
